Our Heart Toward People and Truth: A Christian Perspective on LGBTQIA+

In a world full of competing voices and shifting cultural values, conversations surrounding sexuality and identity can feel complicated and emotionally charged. Many people have deep personal stories attached to these topics, and it is easy for misunderstandings to happen on every side.

As followers of Jesus Christ, our goal is simple:
We want to hold tightly to God’s truth while extending His heart of compassion to every person.

1. God’s Design: Created With Purpose

From the very beginning, Scripture reveals that God created humanity with intention and identity:

“So God created man in his own image… male and female created He them.”
Genesis 1:27 (KJV)

We believe God designed:

  • Two biological sexes: male and female

  • Marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4–6)

This conviction isn’t rooted in politics, culture, or personal opinion—it comes from our trust in the authority of Scripture. God’s design is good, intentional, and life-giving.

2. What We Don’t Do: Condemn or Shame

Jesus did not shy away from truth, but He also never humiliated someone who was struggling, questioning, or living outside of God’s design. When He spoke to the woman at the well (John 4) or the woman caught in adultery (John 8), He offered dignity and compassion—not condemnation.

Likewise, our stance is:

  • We do not mock or shame individuals.

  • We do not treat LGBTQIA+ people as projects to fix.

  • We do not believe that disagreement equals hatred.

Every person—regardless of identity, orientation, or belief—is made in the image of God and deeply loved.

3. What We Also Don’t Do: Affirm Identities or Sexual Practices Outside God’s Design

While we welcome and love everyone, we cannot affirm what Scripture does not affirm. Love without truth is sentimentality—but truth without love can become cruelty.

Our commitment is this:

  • We welcome people as they are.

  • We teach what the Bible says without compromise.

  • We trust the Holy Spirit to work in hearts.

Affirmation of identity is different from affirmation of worth.
We affirm worth. We do not affirm every identity.

4. What We Do: Love, Listen, and Walk With People

Jesus met people in their questions and their struggles. He didn’t force change on anyone—He invited transformation.

Our posture:

  • We listen before we speak.

  • We build relationships, not arguments.

  • We offer Scripture, not personal judgment.

  • We speak truth, but with gentleness (Ephesians 4:15).

You can belong before you believe,
and you can be loved before you ever change.

5. Questions and Conversations Are Welcome

We know that many people wrestle with:

  • Identity

  • Attraction

  • Past trauma

  • Church experiences that caused pain

We are here for real conversations—not debates. If someone has questions, we will walk through Scripture with them, answer with gentleness, and point to Jesus as the ultimate Truth and Healer.

In Summary

✔ We do not condemn.
✔ We do not affirm identities or relationships outside God’s design.
✔ We welcome every person with Christ-like love.
✔ We offer truth gently, patiently, and biblically.

Our mission isn’t to win arguments.
Our mission is to reflect Jesus.

“For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”
John 1:17 (KJV)
